Tasks

  • Antenna Architecture Design: Lead the design and development of innovative antenna arrays for 79GHz radar sensors, specifically optimized for Ultra-Short-Range (USR) applications requiring wide Field-of-View (FoV).
  • MIMO Strategy: Define and optimize MIMO (Multiple-Input Multiple-Output) configurations and virtual array patterns to achieve superior angular resolution and minimize sidelobes/ambiguities.
  • Electromagnetic Simulation: Perform high-fidelity EM simulations using tools like CST Microwave Studio or Ansys HFSS to optimize gain, bandwidth, and mutual coupling at mmWave frequencies (77–81 GHz).
  • Material & Stack-up Selection: Define requirements for high-frequency PCB materials and stack-ups, ensuring minimal insertion loss and stable performance across automotive temperature ranges.
  • Integration & Radome Analysis: Analyze and optimize the interaction between the antenna array and the sensor housing (radome/fascia) to mitigate reflections and boresight errors.
  • Measurement & Validation: Lead antenna characterization in anechoic chambers, performing 3D radiation pattern measurements, gain verification, and phase center analysis.
  • Manufacturing Feasibility: Collaborate with PCB suppliers and production teams to ensure antenna designs are compatible with high-volume automotive manufacturing tolerances.

Profile

  • Education: Master’s degree or PhD in Electromagnetics, RF Engineering, or Microwave Engineering.
  • mmWave Expertise: Deep technical knowledge of antenna design at 77–81 GHz, including patch arrays, feed networks, and transition designs (e.g., SIW or microstrip).
  • MIMO Theory: Strong command of MIMO radar principles, including virtual array synthesis, orthogonal waveform impact on antenna design, and spatial multiplexing.
  • Simulation Mastery: Expert-level proficiency in 3D EM simulation software (CST, HFSS, or FEKO).
  • Hardware Characterization: Hands-on experience with VNA (Vector Network Analyzers) and antenna measurement systems in the mmWave frequency range.
